Familiarize yourself with the Category Choices
Whether you will be buying, selling or both, you'll want
to get to know all of your category choices. Because
this is a "Beauty" Auction, our two main categories are
Beauty
&
Pro Beauty.
But we've also included categories for most everything
else that you would want to buy or sell.
It's important to know where to look when you want to find
what you need. And it's important to place your
items into the right category when you want people to find
them. So we would suggest looking through the
Category Descriptions
before you go much further. They can be found by
clicking here...

Let's start shopping ~ |
 |
Browsing (Shopping)
Looking around is half the fun of the shopping experience,
the other half is finding it! Once you have
familiarized yourself with the categories, you'll be able
to look in the areas that interest you the most. We
have our newest items located at the beginning of every
category as well as items that are "featured" on
the first page of the site. We'll
also tell you how long you have to bid on an item before
the auction closes.
If there are things that are of particular interest to
you, you may want to use our "Auction
Filters".
By going to your
control panel
(Users Admin),
you can enter which items you are always on the lookout
for. When someone places an auction for those
particular items, you will be notified immediately.
To
enter a search
for a particular item -
see
directions below.
While you are browsing,
remember your friends and family.
You may see something that would be of interest to them.
Let them know about what you find, just
click on
"Tell
a friend about this auction".
You'll
find this option on the item's
description page.
By clicking on this button, you will be taken to our
"Notify
a Friend Form".
Just fill out the information, and your friend will be
notified immediately with an e-mail.
You may
see an item that may interest you,
and you'd like to
keep an eye on how the auction goes.
Click on
"add
item to favorites".
To check on this item in the future, just go to your
control panel and
click on
"my
favorites".
A list of the items that you've chosen will appear.
Bidding
Click on
"make
bid"
which is located in the Bidding Box at the bottom of the item's
Description Page. The minimum bid that you will be
able to place is listed right above the button, so you
will know the exact amount you are bidding.
To have
our software bid in increments
for you up to your maximum bid,
place the most that you want to bid in the box on the next
page. Your maximum bid will remain private.
|
It's time to sell ~ |
 |
The
BeautyField is the perfect place to bring your items that
you no longer have any use for, or that you sell on a
retail basis, but wouldn't mind parting with for perhaps a
wholesale price. Often times, when you get two
bidders that really want something, they will bid the
price up to a nice profit for you that you hadn't counted
on!
Either
way,
selling the 'auction' way can be fun and profitable.
It's a nice way to lighten your load, as well as start a
home-based business. Please make sure to be very
accurate in your descriptions. You will get rated by
those you sell to. The nicer you are to deal with,
the better your rating will be, and the more trusted you
will become within the BeautyField community. It never
hurts to remind those that you sell to, that you'd
appreciate a rating from them. Most will be
delighted to do so, especially if they are happy with what
you've done for them.
Selling
After
you've registered with us, you'll want to make sure that
you log in. Once you've familiarized yourself with
your
Control Panel
(User Admin) and the
Categories,
click on
"place
an auction".
You will
be given a list of our ten main categories.
Choose
the category where your item or service fits the best.
Once you've
clicked
on the name
of the category,
you will be taken to a list of the category's
sub-categories. Again, click on the sub-category
that suits your item or service the best. If you are
taken to another list of sub-categories, repeat the
procedure until you are taken to the screen that says
"Place
an Auction".
Enter
all of the information that is asked for, including a
very thorough description of what you are
auctioning, as well as any information that is pertinent
such as costs and methods of shipping (and handling fees
if applicable), insurance options, and the
specific ways that you will accept payment. For
example, if a personal check needs to be held until it
clears at your bank, state this here, not after the
auction is over.
When finished, press
"Enter
Auction Information".
The next
screen will say
"Collect
Images Form".
It is your choice whether you decide to add photos to your
auction description or not. As a buyer, it's always nice to see
what you are bidding on. So we would
highly recommend that you add at least one photo.
You may include up to five 300 x 300 pixel images (See
example).
You may
add the
pictures in the form of a url (a place where they
reside on the web) or as a file from your own computer.
There are two separate columns to place the file names,
depending on which location they are located at.
When
finished,
click on
"enter
image information".
If you
choose not to upload
any
pictures,
click on
"do
not enter images for my auction".
The next
screen will say "Auction
Data Approval".
At this point you will be able to review all of the
information that you have entered. Please make sure
that it is correct. If you'd like to
make any
changes, you may do so by clicking on the appropriate
editing buttons
at the bottom of the page. Now you may either
click on
"approve"
or
"cancel
auction placement"
.
If
you've clicked on
"approve",
you will go to the "Transaction
Detail"
page. On this page, you will see your
Personal Info as well as
Auction
Cost and Features. You may
edit
your info as well as
choose which, if any,
extra features you'd like to add to
your auction such as bolding,
better placement, or
featured ad. Any or all of these features will help
your auction to stand out more and get noticed. The
associated fees are listed next to each one. You may
still edit your choices when you get to this page.
Payment for Selling -
Once all
of the details are exactly the way you'd like them to be,
click on
"
Save
Choices".
If you owe anything for special enhancements such as
bolding
(.75),
featuring your auction
($1.00), or
better placement
($1.00), or if you owe a
fee from your previous auction, you will be taken to
PayPal's safe encrypted site
for you to
make your payment.
We use the "Roll
Over"
method
of payment for our final fees.
So in other words, rather than send you an invoice when an
auction ends to receive our percentage of the final
auction price, we will add this amount the next time you
place an auction. So if this is your first auction,
you will only be charged for the Features chosen for the
new auction. However,
if you have an outstanding balance for the final
percentage of a previous auction, you will be charged that
fee when you place your next auction. The only time we will send an invoice for
the final fees is if the amount is over $10, or if you
have not placed an auction in 30 days.

The
auction has ended and the winning bidder is ready to
receive what they have won. Likewise, the seller
is anxious to receive their payment due. What makes
for a happy and successful transaction for both is when
both parties receive what they want in the shortest amount of
time, and both parties rate each other with the highest
rating possible... a beautiful
5.
It
doesn't matter who contacts whom first, just send a
friendly e-mail letting the other person know that the
auction has ended and it's time to make good on your
mutual contract. You will both receive each other's
e-mail address immediately after the closing of the
auction in an e-mail from us.
We think
that you'll find
PayPal
to be a very efficient and easy payment process choice.
Once you open an account, you will find it a breeze to
send and receive money. After the auction, just
go to
PayPal.com,
sign in, and
click on either the "Send
Money"
tab, or the "Receive
Money"
tab.
To Request Money:
You will
fill out a simple form
which will ask you for the recipient's e-mail address,
amount (this does not include shipping or insurance, you
will be allowed to add that on the next page), type of
currency (US dollars), type (choose "Auction
Goods (non-eBay)",
item title (put the name of the item or service here, and
note (We would recommend something cordial like...
"Congratulations on winning my auction for the -----, I
would appreciate your prompt payment, so that I can send
you your ----- as soon as possible. I look
forward to rating you a high score with great comments as
soon as I receive your payment. And I am hoping that
you will do the same for me. Again, thank you for
your winning bid. I hope that you enjoy your new
-----. Best wishes, -----)
After
you click on "Continue",
you will be able to include extra information like
shipping and insurance costs, item number (This is the
number after the words "Auction ID:" on the item's details
page), auction site (choose "other")
your user ID, closing date of the auction, Item URL (to
include this link so that the buyer can easily access the
details of your item, just cut and paste the web address
from the details page of the item, and put it into this
box). The next screen will show you all of the
information that you've entered. If it is correct,
press "Request
Money".
And your invoice is on its way.
To Send Money:
If
the seller has sent you an invoice from PayPal, just
click on "Pay
Now with PayPal" that
is located on the e-mail. This will take you
directly to PayPal (PayPal recommends getting verification
of the seller's e-mail address before you make your
payment). After logging in, you will be taken to a
screen that contains the "Money
Request Details".
Once you've read through the details, you may make your
payment by clicking on "Pay"
located at the bottom of the page. Payment has now
been officially made, and you can look forward to
receiving your item.
If
you choose to make your payment by going directly to
PayPal, rather than waiting for an invoice. Go to
the
PayPal.com
site. After you click on the "Send
Money" tab, you will
need to
fill
out a simple form
which asks for the
recipient's e-mail address, amount, type of currency, type
( you'll want to choose "Auction
Goods (non-eBay)",
e-mail subject (this is where you will put the name of the
item), and note (We would recommend something cordial
like... "I look forward to receiving the -----. If
it arrives in good condition and is what I am expecting, I
will be sure to write some nice comments about you and
give you a high rating. I hope that you will do the
same for me. Thank you!")
For the winning bidder:
Send
payment for the item immediately,
and let the seller know that the payment is on it's way.
It will then be the seller's turn to do their part in
fulfilling their contract with you by delivering the goods
or services as soon as the payment is received, or the
check-clearing process has been completed.
After you receive what is promised, it's always
good manners to
come back to the site and add a rating 1-5
according to how the transaction went with the seller.
This can either hurt or help them in future transactions,
so be fair, and honest. Also, a follow-up
e-mail to let them know that you received what was
promised is a very nice thing to do.
For the seller:
Once
payment has been received, send the item or
fulfill the
contract agreed upon as quickly as possible. It's a
nice thing to
rate the buyer after receiving payment.
A follow-up
e-mail to thank them for their payment, and to
let them know that you are now doing your part is always
appreciated. A positive transaction leaves the buyer
with good feelings and will help them to want to business
with you again down the road. They may even look to
see if you have any other auctions going on.
